Cobra PR 3500-2 DX GMRS/FRS Two-Way Radios with 10-Mile Range, Pair

Cobra PR 3500-2 DX GMRS/FRS Two-Way Radios with 10-Mile Range, Pair

Boasting an ultra-clear long-distance range of up to 10 miles (depending on terrain and conditions), this pair of Cobra PR 3500-2 DX two-way radios is ideal for adventurous hikers, rescue workers, or even parents who need to keep tabs on their kids from several blocks away. Each radio comes equipped with 22 channels--eight GMRS (General Mobile Radio Service), seven FRS (Family Radio Service), and seven GMRS/FRS combo channels--on which to communicate, in addition to 38 privacy codes. All told, the channels and privacy codes combine to provide 836 "sub-channels," ensuring that conversations are always exclusive even in crowded areas. And should you accidentally lose contact with your group, you can easily scan the possible code combinations to learn which nearby channels are active, or scan for unused channels when the frequencies are packed.

Communicating through the radios is simple and intuitive thanks to such features as the 10-channel memory, which invites the user to program individual channels or channel/privacy code combos for easy retrieval; a roger beep tone that signals the end of your transmission; an auto squelch option that automatically shuts off weak transmissions or unwanted noise; Cobra's patented silent VibrAlert for incoming calls; and the illuminated LCD that's readable even at night. And folks who like to use their radios while their hands are otherwise occupied will delight in the voice activation function (VOX), which detects and transmits the user's voice automatically without requiring any button depressions (requires separately sold microphone and earpiece).

Unlike the walkie-talkies of a few decades past, the 3500-2 DX radios are equipped with powerful signals and switchable power outputs. Users can choose between the high-power setting to maximize range or the low-power option to conserve battery life. A further power benefit stems from the battery saver circuitry, which automatically switches the radios to conservation mode if there are no transmissions within 10 seconds.

Other features include a key lock function that preserves the settings; 10 assignable call tones for incoming calls; and a couple of belt clips that secure the radios while you're on the move. All this in a durable, water-resistant housing that's great for both indoor and outdoor use. Each radio measures 2.36 by 6.65 by 1.61 inches (W x H x D) and carries a one-year warranty on parts and labor.

Note:
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) requires that operators on General Mobile Service (GMRS) and Private Land Mobile (PLM) frequencies obtain an FCC license prior to use. To learn more, please visit the FCC web site.
